Ibutho Coal is an active mineral prospector in the KwaZulu-Natal region. Ibutho Coal Chairman Locksley Pege, Thembi Myeni and Menzi Gqweta founded the company in 2006 with a vision to create economic upliftment in communities through responsible mining development. The majority of Ibutho Coal’s directors and shareholders are black entrepreneurs with a wealth of mining experience. Our flagship project, the proposed Fuleni Anthracite Mine (Fuleni), comprises a 44.6%. Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) shareholding. Ibutho Coal intends to give at least 5% of the Fuleni project to a community shareholding trust.
